New York’s Zipments launched today in Vancouver and is aiming to disrupt the retail shopping industry by providing low cost, same-day courier services to retailers throughout the Vancouver region.
Zipments.ca claims to be the first Canadian company to use the sharing economy, by leveraging on advances in mobile technology and a flexible workforce to provide to make deliveries. Zipments.ca allows local retailers and shoppers to get what they need delivered wherever and whenever they like, seven days a week from 9am until 9pm.
A team of “Lifestyle Couriers” fulfills the Zipments deliveries. They’re comprised of a combination of independent courier companies, part time couriers, and qualified individuals who have the time to make some extra money. Couriers are connected with paid delivery opportunities and in the time frame that they choose.
At launch, Zipments has struck deals with Mountain Equipment Co-op and Edible Canada as retail partners in Vancouver and will offer deliveries in the City of Vancouver, North Vancouver, and West Vancouver.
Zipments.ca is planning to expand their territory of operation in early 2014 as well as rolling out their consumer-based mobile app for personal use. Longer term, the company aims to expand into cities and towns Canada-wide as more people realize the positive impact of this delivery service method.
